Zoustar’s Greatest Son SCHWARZ – New to Rosemont in 2025

30th April, 2025

Rosemont Stud are thrilled to announce the brilliant, all-the-way winner of the $1M W.F.A William Reid Stakes 1200m, SCHWARZ will stand at their Gnarwarre base in 2025.

A winner of five stakes including the William Reid, Schwarz will retire as the only Australian Group One WFA Winning son of Champion sire Zoustar but also his most successful entire having won five-stakes races in total.
Additionally, Schwarz becomes the first $1M+ Yearling / Group One WFA Winning Australian sprinter (5f-6f) to retire to stud in over a decade.
“We believe he’s not only Zoustar’s greatest, most successful son but also his best-looking and indeed best-bred stallion.” said Rosemont Bloodstock Manager, Ryan McEvoy.
“As a $1.25M Magic Millions purchase from a Group 2 Winning daughter of Not A Single Doubt who stems directly from the family of Redoute’s Choice he combines everything you would wish for in an elite stallion prospect; type, sire-line, pedigree, attitude & Group One winning speed”.
In his last five outings, Schwarz has added a Group One WFA win with two scintillating victories at Group Two WFA level – all over the 1200m.

A son of the all-conquering ZOUSTAR – the world’s leading sire of 2024 & reigning champion Australian sire of Gr.1 Winners, Stakes Winners & Winners – he took the eye of John O’Shea, Rosemont & agent Suman Hedge who purchased the colt at the 2022 Magic Millions for $1.25M as part of the Rosemont Alliance syndicate.
“I haven’t trained a better looking, more imposing colt than him nor, many faster.” Stated trainer John O’Shea.

“He’s the highest-rated yearling I have seen in years. It is scary how rare it is to for a colt to fetch $1M+ at the sales & achieve Gr1 W.F.A success.

He not only had the right attitude for a colt to train on at four, he had the ability to stretch his speed to stakes victories at 1400m and he won at the three toughest courses we have in Australia; Randwick, Flemington & The Valley.

He’s a slam dunk prospect.”

A decision on the immediate future of Schwarz is being finalised with strong consideration being given to a final race start in the $1.5M Group One Doomben 10,000 (WFA, 1200m) where Schwarz is the outright TAB Favourite at $4.50 ahead of Group One Winners Sunshine In Paris, Bendetta & Overpass.

“He has bounced out of the William Reid with great energy and confidence that we are open to another start and establishing him as a dual Group One winner & Champion Australian sprinter elect. Having looked at him last week I have never seen a more healthier, stronger individual. His form is impeccable when he’s been presented fresh so we’re hopeful of getting him to QLD for the Group One Doomben 10,000”, explained Rosemont Principal, Anthony Mithen.

Schwarz will stand for a ‘Price On Application’ basis with an official fee set to be applied upon retirement. With limited number of nominations available, breeders are encouraged to contact Rosemont to discuss their bookings.

A small, select number of shares will be made available in Schwarz with breeders encouraged to contact Rosemont to register an interest.
