Rosemont Stud in Victoria was the last of the big farms to welcome visitors to their open day and as Anthony Mithen said, being at Geelong it does take a bit of effort for guests to attend, but those that did were well rewarded.

Rosemont is home to six stallions ranging in price from $5,500 to $33,000 and while Cox Plate winning Group I sire Shamus Award is the proven commodity that can get you an elite performer, there is real excitement surrounding the young guns Schwarz and Henry Longfellow (IRE).

Schwarz is the pride of the farm having been purchased by the Rosemont Stallion Alliance as a yearling for $1.25million.

Schwarz is a Group I winning son of Champion Australian Sire Zoustar, while Henry Longfellow is a Group I winning son of Dubawi and both young stallions have first foals this spring that were showcased during the open day and feature in the video above.

Henry Longfellow (IRE) is bred on the same cross as super sires Night of Thunder and Ghaiyyath.

Rosemont have also rolled the dice with a son of Extreme Choice in Extreme Warrior, whose oldest progeny have just turned three.

Like his famous sire, Extreme Warrior is not as fertile as Rosemont might have liked but with four winners from just 11 starters including the stakes-winner Eternal Warrior, he’s a stallion that will attract plenty of interest.
