Rosemont Stud’s dual Group I winner Toorak Toff posted his first winner at Pakenham on Thursday with a stylish victory for two year-old filly Pop.
Unplaced in two previous runs in stakes company, the Clinton McDonald-trained filly appreciated a drop in class and step up to 1400 metres to open her account by a length.
A $90,000 Magic Millions purchase for her trainer from the Amarina Farm draft, Pop is the first winner for stakes-placed Anabaa (USA) mare Very Cherry.
With only five runners to have hit the track to date, outside of Pop, another of Clinton McDonald’s to race – Hollywoodgirl, finished a good third on her debut before being put away.
Toorak Toff stands at a fee of $16,500 and the flashy chestnut son of Show Heart covered 70 mares last spring.
