With a field of seven set to jump in tonight’s Group 2 Stock Stakes at Moonee Valley, the Rosemont Stud raced Amanpour and Sardaaj look to do the gatecrasher silks proud.

Having had two runs back this time in, Rosemont Stud’s Magic Millions National Broodmare acquisition Amanpour heads down from the Sydney-based stable of trainer Gai Waterhouse hot off the heels of a pleasing effort in last week’s Group 2 Golden pendant behind Peeping.

Set to be ridden by Vlad Duric, a winner of last week’s Group 1 Underwood Stakes, the Group 1-winning Northern Meteor mare will jump from the inside barrier and although she has never raced at the Valley, she has had three starts over the trip for two wins including a victory in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes over Catkins in April this year.

The other of the two-pronged attack on the Stock Stakes is the four-year-old Iffraaj mare Sardaaj (NZ).

Starting her career in New Zealand, Sardaaj won her first two starts before narrow second placed efforts in the Group 2 Eight Carat and the Group 1 Levin Classic.

Heading across the Tasman where she joined the Hawkes Racing team, the mare has had two Australian starts finishing second behind Churchill Dancer at the Valley, with that winner coming out and winning the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis next start!

Our mare then travelled to Caulfield with not all going right in the run and finishing just over two lengths from the leader.

From barrier five tonight, the mare should be able to secure a good position with jockey Dwayne Dunnin the saddle, and we are looking forward to an improved performance.

Best of luck to our fellow owners with Amanpour and Sardaaj (NZ) in tonight’s race – make sure you tune in for Race 3 at 7:45pm!!!
