Bought at the 2015 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $1,5 million by Rosemont Stud / Blue Sky Bloodstock, Group I winning mare Amanpour looked worth every penny as she strode clear for an easy trial win at Randwick on Friday morning.

The Gai Waterhouse trained Amanpour was a last start winner of the Group I ATC Queen of the Turf Stakes and looks ready to pick up where she left off judging by her dominant win in the opening trial over 1250 metres which also featured Group I BRC Doomben Cup winner Pornichet (IRE), who finished third.

The Northern Meteor mare was a homebred for Henry Cojuangco (brother of Eduardo Cojuangco, Gooree Stud), who sadly passed away earlier this year resulting in the sale of his bloodstock interests.

Now running in the Rosemont Stud colours, Amanpour is a sibling to stakes-winners Turf Express and Sports Edition being the best of three winners from Marscay mare Newscaster.

Amanpour usually finds her best form at and around a mile, so the Group I VRC Myer Classic at Flemington in November would seem an obvious target.
