After a busy breeding season and start to the yearling selling period, the Rosemont Crew were treated to an unexpected culinary treat this week at the Gnarwarre Stud.

New clients (but rapidly becoming the favourite) Daniel and Rob Gangi stopped by to thank the team for their efforts through the breeding season.

Their mare Inscrutable foaled a lovely colt by Reset through the spring and despite everyone’s best effort, the mare unfortunately wouldn’t go in foal to STARSPANGLEDBANNER.

Not to be a “glass half empty” guy, Daniel was keen to show his appreciation in a very unexpected way!

Joint partners in a very successful electrical business, the brothers are also extremely proud of their Italian heritage (despite not being Carlton supporters!) and their upbringing surrounded by the best-cooked food in their neighbourhood.

As a result, Daniel offered to treat all staff at Rosemont to a “proper” meal after staff BBQ’s were deemed by the Italian stallions to being a little on the dreary side!

So on Wednesday night the lads took over the homestead kitchen and whipped up a storm! Starting with spicy Italian pork sausages, the eyebrows of all staff were raised early!

Onto homemade traditional bologanase pasta and marinated lamb chops, the chefs extraordinaire came home with pickled vegetable and chicken bread sticks and their Mum’s traditional Italian walnut cake!

The wafts from Gnarwarre clearly travelled far as interloper and Geelong Cat star Andrew Mackie made an impromptu appearance just in time for the pasta!!

Washed down with a beer or two, it was the perfect night and reward for the hard-working team currently prepping a high class bunch of yearlings at Gnarwarre Stud (Easter draft), Ceres Farm (Classic draft) and our rented Lara Equine Stables (Melbourne Premier draft).

And funnily enough, there were plenty of eager staff keen to show Daniel, Rob, Simon and their team the new pride of Rosemont … Inscrutable and her Reset colt! No one is going to forget about that mare and foal in a while after Daniel distributed to the Rosemont crew personalised stubby holders with a pic of the foal and the reminder … Number One Colt!!
