The Twisty tale of a standout sprinter’s stud career has taken another turn in recent weeks with two of the first five juvenile runners by Starspangledbanner winning impressively on their racecourse debuts.

Moonraker overcame a slow start to burn off his rivals in a hot Ascot maiden for Mick Channon, while on Wednesday John Quinn unleashed The Wow Signal, who made all the running to score by nine lengths in an Ayr maiden.

European breeders impressed by Starspangledbanner’s stunning start – as well as the recent good run of his sire Choisir, also responsible for Olympic Glory – can only look on helplessly as the stallion proved subfertile in his first two seasons at Coolmore and is now covering a small, carefully managed book in Australia.
