On the eve of her first live foal being crowd the State’s champion two-year-old, Scottattitude has arrived in Victoria for a mouth-watering date sure to produce another fine galloper.

The mother of the Barry Campbell-trained star two-year-old Grand Tycoon (pictured above), the well put together Scottattitude arrived today at Rosemont Stud to be prepared for a date with their star stallion Toorak Toff, already making a big impression with his first foals hitting the ground in recent weeks.

Grand Tycoon is certain to be crowned champion two-year-old next Friday night at Tasmania racing’s night of nights, with not a better two-year-old produced in the state since Rustia more than a decade ago.

Grand Tycoon won his first seven starts including the Elwick Stakes and the Gold Sovereign Stakes on Launceston Cup day to stamp his authority on the juvenile ranks in the Apple Isle. His only defeat came at the last start of his prep when he was narrowly beaten before heading for a well-earned break, having amassed more than $215,000 in prizemoney in his first preparation.

The mating of Scottattitude, a lovely dark bay Grand Royale mare bred in Tasmania, was thought through long and hard, before settling on Rosemont Stud’s brilliant son of Show A Heart.

Rachel Clayton and Dean Woodhouse jointly own the mare and thought the mating would offer the perfect blend of speed on speed. Scottattitude herself was a very fast two-year-old that won 3 times as juvenile and finished a close second in the Cascade Classic at two. As a Group winner at two, Group One winner at three and four, Toorak Toff offered the breeders the chance to breed an equally good two-year-old with a good chance the resultant foal will go right on with the job at three and four.

It seems an inspired choice now given the quality of stock hitting the ground by the stunning chestnut. “We couldn’t be happier with the foals on the ground by the Toff,”said Dean Harvey of Rosemont Stud.

“He is really stamping them with great strength scope and bone. We bought Toorak Toff because of his incredible good looks and conformation and felt he would produce stock that the buyers love to have on their “bought”list come sales times. He hasn’t let us down.”

Mares already foaled to Toorak Toff include G1 winner Allez Suez’s half sister Pichard, current Stakes winner Express Power’s half sister Shoptalk and multiple Stakes sprinter Secret Flyer’s ¾ sister My Seecret Luv. All have produced stand-out foals.
