With the impressive Listed victory on Saturday June 22 of Stratum filly Enquare winning the Breakfast Creek Hotel Stakes at Eagle Farm over 1400m, it was also a celebration for Rosemont Stud who owns Skewiff, the dam of the filly who is also currently in foal to their resident stallion Toorak Toff.

Having finished third and second respectively at her last two starts being Miss Longstocking at Listed level, the Jason McLachlan-trained filly relished the step up to the 1400m, scoring by a length-and-a-half from Canny Lad gelding Cannyzing, with a further length back to the third placed Nicked And Court.

Purchased for $45,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale by her trainer, Enquare (picturd right) has now had six starts for two wins and two placed efforts, earning connections over $100,000 in prize money.

A winner of the G3 Rose Of Kingston Stakes and the G3 Frances Tressaday Stakes, Skewiff was the winner of 12 races and over $500,000 in earnings for her connections. Beaten a head by half a head in the G1 Emirates Stakes behind Sky Cuddle and Lad Of The Manor, Skewiff then finished fourth at her next start in the Group One Peters Classic (Myer Classic), beaten one-and-a-quarter lengths by Miss Potential, Alinghi and Infinite Grace.

The dam of three to race, all winners, Skewiff’s current weanling, a filly by Flying Spur’s G2-winning son Shaft was sold through the draft of Rosemont Stud at this year’s Inglis Great Southern Sale to Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock for $15,000, the very same connections who raced Skewiff throughout her career.

Currently in foal to Toorak Toff, Rosemont Stud are extremely excited about the first crop of the dual G1-winning son of Show A Heart to be born in the coming months.

The quickest winner of the G1 Golden Rose, and also an impressive one-and-a-half length winner of the G1 Rupert Clarke Stakes, Toorak Toff defeated a class group of gallopers throughout his career that included G1 winners Lone Rock, Shadows In The Sun, Star Witness, Ilovethiscity, Crystal Lily, Skilled, Undue, Temple Of Boom, Happy Trails, Yosei, Aloha, Eagle Falls, Master Of Design, Woorim, Dreamaway, Happy Zero, Rock Classic and Albert The Fat.

Standing at a fee of $16,500 (inc. GST), Toorak Toff’s first book of mares are due to foal in the coming season, and by clicking here you can view the quality of the mares that he did cover.
