Toorak Toff

(Show A Heart x Orong, by Grand Lodge)

2017 Service Fee: $5,500 (inc. GST)

Multiple Group One winner Toorak Toff entered stud at Rosemont Stud in 2012.

A Group winner at 2, Group One winner at 3 and Group One winner again at 4, he was the most highly qualified Australian sprinter to go to stud in Victoria during that year.

The handsome 16.2 chestnut showed his class winning The Janz stakes G3 at two having already won the Magic Millions Adelaide classic in his juvenile year to stamp himself as an emerging superstar.

He kicked off his 3yo year winning the Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, coming from last to beat Star Witness and Soul to earn himself a shot at Randwick's Golden Rose G1 (1400m). Again getting back in the field, he proved too strong for the best of his era including Crystal Lily, Ilovethiscity and Hinchinbrook in the process.

He went on to run an unlucky fourth in the Group One Caulfield Guineas (1600m) as favorite, to add to his unlucky half length defeat in the Group One AJC Sires' Produce in his two year old year.

Toorak Toff went on as a four year old to prove his wares, winning the Group One Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) beating stars including fellow Group One-winning son of Show A Heart Woorim and stallion prospect Smart Missile.

He was set an audacious task to finish his racing career, attempting to be the first horse in 100 years to win the Group One Newmarket (1200m) first-up, finishing 5 lengths from star sprinter Hay List.

Toorak Toff offers breeders the rare opportunity to access the Star Kingdom blood that has been a surefire pathway to success in Australia for so long. A son of Show A Heart, from well related Grand Lodge mare Orong, Toorak Toff was bought by stallion-making trainer Rick Hore-Lacy for $130,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale.

Averaging $90,000 at 2015 Magic Millions with seven sold and a whopping $195,000 at Inglis Easter with two sold, trainers with Toorak Toff youngsters include Gai Waterhouse, Peter Moody, Chris Waller, Joe Pride, Clint McDonald, Danny O'Brien, David Jolly and Lloyd Kennewell.

Hore-Lacy is best known for purchasing and creating the stallion careers of the mighty Redoutes Choice, Canny Lad and Dash For Cash amongst others and has described Toorak Toff as "the best looking colt of them all".
