Services

Agistment

Rosemont can offer all-round service no matter what you thoroughbred requirements. With 700 acres (plus a satellite 300-acre farm 1.5 km away), we have the room to move on the Ceres property for our racehorse spellers. And at Victoria’s most competitive spelling rates, it’s no wonder things are always busy at Rosemont. Offering spelling services to some of Australia’s top trainers including Team Hawkes, Peter Moody, John Sadler, Leon Corstens, Mike Moroney, Heath Connors, Mark Young and Andrew Noblet.

Mares and foals are our speciality with some 90 resident mares enjoying the lush paddocks and rolling hills that the Gnarwarre farm environment provides. Permanent mares and breeding stock enjoy some of the best paddocks in Victoria, not just by our reckoning … try asking Gai Waterhouse, John Hawkes or Peter Moody who have all enjoyed GI success with horses reared at Rosemont Gnarwarre.

Yearling sales

Rosemont is prominent at all the major yearlings sales on the Eastern seaboard. We have sold successfully (up to $375,000) at Magic Millions, Inglis Easter and Inglis Melbourne Premier. We boast a very high winners/horses sold ratio (more than 90%) which counts for plenty when trainers are selecting their horses come sale day. With expanded box space since acquiring Rosemont Gnarwarre, our resident clients come first, but we do squeeze in some outside horses for some sales. Call us to discuss on 0352206500.

Stallions

In 2011, Rosemont found the back-scratcher after suffering from an itch to stand stallions for several season!! After a few years of “will we, won’t we”, the farm decided to jump into the stallion business, given the lack of proven stallion options in Victoria.

Sourcing a proven but well-priced option for the Garden State, principal Anthony Mithen hatched an audacious plan to buy Danzero and bring him back to the state where he raced and started his stud career. It came off!!! And now Victorian breeders can reap the rewards.

But acknowledging that age catches up with us all, the farm sought to secure a freshman stallion for 2012, and what a choice. Toorak Toff headed to Rosemont after winning at Group level at 2, Group One level at three and crowning his fast as lightning career with victory in the Sir Rupert Clarke stakes. Covering 100 top quality mares at just $16,500, he offered breeders looking for speed and precocity, as well as a perfect Danehill outcross, the obvious solution. Foals to hit the ground in 2013 are much anticipated.
