Toorak Toff Gets Polly Calling Him a Cracker!

Rosemont Stud is celebrating the first positive pregnancy tests of dual Group One-winning first season stallion Toorak Toff.

“We vetted three mares this morning for their first preg scan and we were delighted to see that all three are in foal,” Rosemont’s new stud manager Matt Brown said.

“He’s a very good stallion in the shed to deal with and the early signs are very positive that he seems extremely fertile as well.”

Toorak Toff also received a glowing endorsement from Victoria’s racing minister Dr Denis Napthine, who was on hand at Rosemont’s Gnarwarre property today when the good news came through. Under the expert eye of new farm vet Dr Claire Brown, Dr Napthine got to use his original trade, having practiced as a large animal vet in Victoria’s western districts for many years before entering politics more than 20 years ago.

Dr Brown said it was great to show the minister the Gnarwarre facilities and get his expert opinion in the crush. “The scanner machine had him a little perplexed! He was old school when he last practiced so it was great to show him the way we do things these days,” Dr Brown said.

The news could get better for the Rosemont team on the weekend with their Cups prospect and US imported stallion Winchester set to kick off in Australia in the G1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday. With plenty of conditioning work done through the Malua stables, trainer John Sadler is ready to kick off what is ultimately a Melbourne Cup campaign with the good-looking son of the ill-fated Theatrical. Having already won 4 G1 races in the US, he shapes as a horse to watch through the spring.

Toorak Toff has more than 100 mares booked to visit him this season at a fee of $16,500 inc GST. For more details ring Dean Harvey on 0408641424
