Nostradamus makes sale ring ‘debut’

Breeders to Rosemont’s new sire of 2016 Nostradamus will get a glimpse into the future at the Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale next week.

The very first mare in foal to the blue-blooded sire will be offered at the sale and it will be the well-related and proven broodmare Troposphere (Stratum) at Lot 510.

Troposphere was a winner herself over 1000 metres and is a sibling to Golden Slipper winner Prowl as well as Group 2 winner I Rock My World.

Breeder Stan Saric, the current owner of Troposhere, said she was his first mare he owned with fellow Sydney concreter Steve Marasovic.

“We raced her with Leon and Troy Corstens and, after she retired, we both stayed in and thought we would breed from her.”

From just two foals to race, she has produced a stakes winner in Stoker (Written Tycoon) and a multiple winner in 3yo filly Plenty To Like (Ilovethiscity) who has performed admirably in stakes races. Her third foal is an unraced two year old brother to Plenty to Like.

“He (the 2yo) looks promising so when we get him to the track for a win, all of her foals to race will be winners,” Sam said.

Standing his first season on 2016, the magnificent looking Nostradamus covered more mares than any other first season sire in Victoria.

The son of Medaglia d’Oro is a half-brother to dual Group 1-winning Champion 2 and 3 year old Star Witness who himself has produced Group 1 winners

Nostradamus was a three-time Group winner across three cities over sprint distances. He was also a gallant second to Brazen Beau in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes.
