Mr Individual heads to Racing.com Park

Talented three-year-old Mr Individual will head out to Racing.com Park to gain some confidence before taking aim at some of the spring features.

While connections were considering races like the Golden Rose and the Danehill Stakes on Saturday, they’ve instead opted to go to the metro meeting at Victoria’s newest track on Wednesday, September 16.

Mr Individual, a son of Rosemont Stud's Starspangledbanner, hung out badly in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes last start, but co-trainer Troy Corstens says his racing manners improved in a jumpout at Flemington on Friday.

“He went much better than he did in his Caulfield run, the bit got caught up in his mouth,” Corstens said.

“We had a bit lifter on him and it got caught on the side of his mouth and we think that’s the reason he did so much wrong.

“He was much better in his jumpout here at Flemington on Friday.

“We had a bit of a discussion with Brad and a few of the owners and we’ve made the decision to take him to Pakenham.

“There’s a 1200m Benchmark 64 on Wednesday week, we’re going to run him in that and hopefully he does everything right and can get a kill and then we’ll jump back and then probably put him in the (Caulfield) Guineas Prelude and then the Guineas.”

Corstens has a good opinion of Mr Individual and hopes the move can reignite a charge towards the spring features.

“You’re running against these top class three-year-olds and if you do something wrong you can’t get away with it and you can’t get the prizemoney,” he said.

“So we’re going to take him basics, take him back to Pakenham, run him through his classes and hopefully get a good win on the board.

“If he couldn’t win that, then you’d have to think about where we’re heading with him anyway – whether we push further into the spring or what action we take.”
