Rosemont yearlings spot on for Gold Coast Magic Millions

The finishing touches have been applied to the six quality yearlings that Rosemont Stud will be offering at this year’s Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast in January. With three colts and three fillies, the farm aims to target the middle market where prices have been strong in the yearling world during these uncertain financial times.

“It’s great to try and breed the big time sales horse but it’s a tricky market,” farm principal Anthony Mithen said. “But it’s great to provide the market with horses that are top quality, affordable and come from a system that produces winners. Since we started selling yearlings at commercial sales around six years ago, we are running at something like 90% winners to runners sold, which should give buyers great confidence when inspecting our draft at any sale.”

Rosemont will sell colts by Stratum, Northern Meteor and a Shamardal colt that is sure to be busy given the popularity of the stallion and the small numbers Shamardal has in 2012 given injury suffered in the season of 2009. Fillies are by Stratum, Written Tycoon and a Snitzel filly that is a half sister to top Mick Price Group winner Schilling.
