Like Father Like Son?

The hugely talented and enigmatic Home Of The Brave will bid to become the first Classic winner for his Rosemont Stud-based sire Starspangledbanner in Saturday's G1 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.

ANZ Bloodstock News' Mark Scully paid a visit to the yard of his trainer, Hugo Palmer, to find out how Starspangledbanner's Caulfield Guineas success is fuelling confidence that the Flemington Bloodstock-owned colt could emulate his sire.

"Have you seen Starspangledbanner’s Caulfield Guineas?” Palmer asks the gaggle of reporters gathered at his yard’s open morning in Newmarket yesterday.

The trainer pulls his phone from his pocket, on which he has a replay of the race saved, to show those who have not.

“This is what gives me hope,” he says, as his 2,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) hopeful Home Of The Brave trots by. “I’m not saying it means he’s definitely going to win and obviously that was round a bend but it gives me hope.
