“We’ve got our biggest draft ever here at Melbourne Premier, which is always a bit daunting, so you’d like to think you’d be busier than in previous years and that has certainly been the case. We’ve been run off our feet and it seems that, just a general feel in terms of numbers on the ground, the numbers are up.

“That has got to give us a bit of a confident feel going in.

“I would think this will be a strong sale. It’s had growth every year for ten years and that’s because good horses come out of this sale. There have been some world champions sold out of here, not to mention Black Caviar, the best horse you or I will ever see.

“It’s a great sale and while growth will have to stop at some stage, given the health of the market, it won’t stop this year. I would imagine there will be a little pick up across the board.

“The obvious one on paper (to have been the most popular so far) is the Sepoy - Jessies Girl, who thankfully is a really nice physical too. The current family, with Of The Brave and Eloping, is doing wonderful things and Sepoy is a really hot first season stallion.

“In terms of fillies, the Toorak Toff - Mannya filly has really caught everyone’s eye. She’s by a lovely Zabeel mare, there’s a lot of Zabeel in her and they’re not making them anymore.

"In terms of the colts, the Toorak Toff - Attilia. German blood is pretty hot in Australia at the moment and Attilia is a very well related German mare who was a stakes winner, so we can see him being a really nice middle distance stayer.”
