Trainer Mark Riley rates Of The Brave, favourite for Saturday’s Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield, as “potentially the best horse” he’s trained.

Riley believes Of The Brave, a winner of the Debutant Stakes at Caulfield in October, will elevate himself in the Blue Diamond market after Saturday.

Of The Brave, rated by sportsbet.com.au as a $3.60 favourite for the Prelude, goes into the race off the back of a brilliant trial win at Cranbourne late last month.

“If anything beats him on Saturday it will win the Diamond,” Riley declared.

“The horse is flying, absolutely flying.”

Riley said Of The Brave worked at Mornington on the course proper earlier in the week matched against Grande Rosso, a three-year-old.

He said his colt proved far too good for Grande Rosso, who subsequently was beaten in a photo finish at Mornington on Wednesday.

“He’s just an unbelievable horse, I think potentially he’s the best I’ve trained,” Riley said.

“He will just bounce from the gates, come across nice and easy and I think be too good for them.”

Riley won an Oakleigh Plate and a Newmarket Handicap with Mookta.

Of The Brave is currently a $10 chance in sportsbet.com.au's Blue Diamond market, which has Fontiton a $4.20 favorite.
