The Wow Signal wins the G1 Prix Morny
Heading into the Group One Prix Morny over 1200m, two-year-old Starspangledbanner colt The Wow Signal was an undefeated winner of the Group Two Coventry Stakes, ending the day, he was now an undefeated Group One winner, and the first winner at the elite level for his Australian-based sire Starspangledbanner!!!

Not only the first Group One winner for his sire, but it was also the first for his trainer John Quinn, who prepared the youngster to a nine-length debut win before powerful racing operation Shaqab Racing, the brain-child of Sheikh Joaan Al Thani stepped in to secure the colt en-route to his length-and-three-quarter Group Two victory at Royal Ascot.

Having not raced for some five weeks, and racing on soft going, The Wow Signal powered past the race American-bred favourite Hootenanny to take the race by a half-length margin for jockey Frankie Dettori.

Trainer Quinn said,"At halfway I was quite worried but once he got on terms with the leaders I always thought he had a chance because he has so much class and is so tough.

"We can run him over six but he really needs seven or a mile. He is in everything but we might bring him back to Longchamp for the Jean-Luc Lagardere."

Pre-race, Quinn’s response of “God, yeah,” when asked if The Wow Signal was the best he had ever trained, pretty much summed up his reaction post-race, with the trainer indicating that he felt the colt was capable of stretching out to be a Guineas horse as a three-year-old.

The multiple Group One-winning son of Choisir also added another winner to his impressive tally when Rotherwick powered to an impressive two-and-a-quarter length victory at Beverley to become the seventh winner from 14 runners for the sire.

While we are pretty sure everyone globally had heard of Starspangledbanner prior to the victory of his unbeaten son, but if not, we are now confident they sure have now!!

With his first Australian crop having just turned two, we are really excited to see how his progeny perform when they hit the track, and with another outstanding book of mares lining up to be covered by him this season at Rosemont Stud including the Champion Makybe Diva, we are sure the Starspangledbanner legacy is set to be further enhanced!!!
